Michael has over 27 years’ experience as a Chartered Accountant. Michael’s specialist areas are audit and assurance, financial accounting, project management and business mentoring. Michael started his career with Deloitte and BDO in Auckland and Melbourne, working in corporate audit and assurance.
Michael is currently board chairperson of the Northern Health School which operates the hospital schools and satellite units in the upper North Island. He is also an elected parent trustee on the board of Baradene College. He serves on the executive committee of Pacific Island Chartered Accountants Network, an important network of CAANZ, promoting career, aspirations and building networks for Pacific Island students and encouraging the pursuit of professional qualifications to Chartered Accountants.
Michael is passionate about health and fitness, particularly for Pacifika and Men’s Health, encouraging young and old to get fit and active. He is a fitness role model for Men’s Health Trust (NZ) and is currently maintaining a “run streak”, having run every day for 4 years. Michael is a regular participant in the Methodist Mission’s annual appeal in the Lifewise Big Sleepout.
Michael is an endurance athlete and has completed 33 marathons and 14 Ironman triathlons (3.8km swim, 180km cycle, 42km run). In 2018 Michael has been selected as one of eight ASB Auckland marathon ambassadors.
James has 22 years chartered accounting experience in Auckland.
His industry experience includes commercial and residential property, retail, professional services including medical and legal professionals, transport, information technology, real estate, agriculture & livestock, and hospitality.
James has significant experience with cross border investment both by overseas and New Zealand interests. This includes local branches and subsidiaries of overseas companies, franchises, non-resident individuals, and also New Zealand entities operating in Australia.
High net worth family groups and the taxation, trust, and investment issues unique to them is a core practice area. He has also been involved with start-up businesses and enjoys the challenges and rewards of business building.
James has experience with several not for profit organisations including as treasurer of the Auckland Gliding Club.
When not at work James likes to spend time with his partner and three daughters, and is a keen road cyclist.
